Day 2: Building Your SOI Database
Yesterday, you created a raw list of names. Today, we’ll turn that list into a professional database. A well-organized database is the engine of your business. You can use a simple spreadsheet (like Google Sheets or Excel) or a dedicated Customer Relationship Manager (CRM). The tool doesn’t matter as much as the habit of using it. For each contact, create columns for: First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Email Address, Home Address, Source (how you know them), and a “Notes” column for personal details (kids’ names, pets, hobbies, last conversation topic). This personal information is gold; it allows you to have authentic, meaningful conversations. Don’t get overwhelmed by technology. A simple spreadsheet is powerful. Start by creating the columns, and then begin the process of data entry. This is a foundational task that will pay dividends for years to come. A powerful SOI database is a living document that you will update and use daily for the rest of your career.
