Google Ads and Facebook Ads Tracking

Last updated: February 15, 2026

Ad Campaign Tracking

CloseDaily automatically tracks leads from your Google Ads and Facebook Ads campaigns. When someone clicks your ad and later fills out a form on your website, the system captures the full attribution chain — which campaign, ad set, keyword, and platform drove that lead — and attaches it to their CRM contact record.

How It Works

When a visitor arrives on your site from an ad, CloseDaily’s tracking script captures the UTM parameters and click IDs from the URL. This data is stored in a browser cookie (lasting 30 days) so that even if the visitor browses multiple pages before converting, the attribution is preserved. When they submit a form, the attribution data is automatically attached to their CRM contact.

What Gets Tracked

Data Point Source Example
UTM Source URL parameter google, facebook, instagram
UTM Medium URL parameter cpc, paid_social, email
UTM Campaign URL parameter spring_listings_2026
UTM Term URL parameter homes for sale austin tx
UTM Content URL parameter blue_banner_ad
GCLID Auto-appended by Google Ads Unique click identifier
FBCLID Auto-appended by Facebook Unique click identifier
Landing Page Auto-detected The first page they visited
Referrer Auto-detected The website that sent them
Device Type Auto-detected Mobile, tablet, or desktop

Setting Up Google Ads Tracking

Google Ads automatically appends a GCLID parameter to your URLs (if auto-tagging is enabled in your Google Ads account). CloseDaily detects this and tags the lead as google_ads. For manual UTM tracking, add the parameters to your Final URL in the ad setup.

Setting Up Facebook Ads Tracking

Facebook automatically appends an FBCLID parameter. CloseDaily detects this and tags the lead as facebook_ads. For additional tracking, add UTM parameters in the “URL Parameters” field in your Facebook ad set settings:

utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid_social&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}&utm_content={{ad.name}}

Facebook will automatically replace the placeholders with your actual campaign and ad names.

Facebook Pixel Integration

CloseDaily supports Facebook Pixel for conversion tracking. When configured, the pixel fires a Lead event every time someone submits a form, and a CompleteRegistration event on signup. This allows Facebook to optimize your ad delivery for people most likely to convert.

Viewing Attribution in the CRM

Open any contact in your CRM and scroll to the Attribution section. You will see the full tracking data: source, medium, campaign, keyword, ad platform, landing page, and device. Use this to understand which campaigns are generating the most valuable leads.
